What kind of Massage do you do?

I combine my knowledge and training of massage therapy techniques like Swedish, Neuromuscular therapy, Manual Lymphatic drainage, Reflexology, Thai massage, and Lomi Lomi and fifteen years of experience in the bodywork field with ancient healing systems like yoga, Thai massage, Shiatsu, and Reiki to help people increase mobility and reduce the physical toll stress can take on our bodies.  All of my work is done with emphasis on trauma-informed care.

My main area of interest is helping people with chronic pain, the effects of stress on the body, and mental health.  I specialize in helping those with pelvic and low back pain, TMJD, jaw and neck pain, headaches, scar tissue release, and postpartum clients.

How is Postnatal Massage different than regular massage?

While the appointment itself may be structured very similarly, I have experience and working knowledge of specific issues that effect postpartum people.  Pelvic pain, low back, hip, and SI joint pain, trigger points of the abdomen are all common issues after giving birth or being pregnant.  I also offer C-section scar release that can help with tension or nerve pain along incision sites.

Studies have proven that massage therapy can reduce cortisol levels in the body making massage therapy a powerful tool for preventing and helping those with postpartum depression and anxiety.  Being a mother myself, I understand how hard it is to find time away from young babies.  I offer shorter, more targeted (30 minute) sessions, and considerations for breastfeeding (I.e. bringing your new infant along, etc.)

What is Thai Massage?
It is an ancient healing system combining acupressure and assisted yoga postures to increase mobility, relieve pain, and restore balance to the body. This massage is done fully clothed on a floor mat (or table) while being rocked, stretched, and compressed for a mind/body healing experience.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese healing modality in which the giver channels ki or life force energy to the receiver.  This is an ideal treatment for those needing more stillness and calm, and it is a great alternative to bodywork if the client is feeling uncomfortable with touch.
